Video Module 1
THE BASICS:
First we learn everything about the tiles & set up! Understanding the foundations will make game play so much easier. This Module includes:
- TILES:Â Learn each tile & its function
- JOKERS: Understand how they can and can't be used
- NATIONAL MAHJONG LEAGUE CARD: We go through each aspect of the card so it no longer feels overwhelming
- THE WALLS & THE DEAL: learn how to set up the walls, how to open them the right way & how to do a proper deal
We will also review the TOP beginner mistakes in each of these areas so you can avoid common errors and feel more confident before you even begin playing.
Video Module 2
HOW TO PLAY THE GAME:
Next, we learn how the game is actually played — the flow of the game, direction of play, how to call a tile, and so much more!
• DIRECTION: Understand the direction and flow of all aspects of the game
• CALLING A TILE: Finally, one place that clearly explains all the rules for calling tiles and how to avoid common beginner mistakes
• JOKER EXCHANGE: Learn the RIGHT way to do a joker exchange and the one mistake many beginners make that could lead to a faux-jong
• HABITS: Practice important Mahjong habits from day one that can help you play more confidently and improve your chances of winning

One of the best ways to learn American Mahjong is by watching the game in action. In this module, you’ll watch me play a full game from start to finish — including setup, the Charleston, gameplay decisions, tile passing strategy, calling tiles, and even whether or not I win! Along the way, I’ll explain my thought process so you can better understand why certain moves are made.
I will also discuss my favorite online Mahjong program where you can practice the game fully online and continue building your confidence outside of the course.

I’m Kim, founder of Ladies That Mahj™. I'm a certified mahjong instructor & have taught hundreds of people how to play American Mahjong through in-person classes, events, and beginner lessons.
